My mother pursued every treatment available, up to and including, whole brain radiation. She played Scrabble with my son 10 days before she died (she won). For her, it was dying with her mental faculties as intact as possible for as long as possible. I didn’t get it at the time. Your post would have been a great conversation anchor for us!
It sounds like she was able to achieve that goal 🤍 conversing about these goals is definitely important - what we might think is a good idea, would not be the priority for someone else. Or like you said, you didn’t quite understand your mother’s position at the time. Hopefully we can keep inspiring conversations by sharing your experiences!
